Title: Water Quality
Custodian: Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC)
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
This is an umbrella entry included for Internet publishing combining over 200 individual datasets managed by the NSW Department of Land and Water Conservation. The 200 datasets include physical, chemical and biological monitoring data for discrete samples collected from boreholes throughout NSW, surface water quality monitoring stations on rivers and major reservoirs. The data include major ions, pH, conductivity, salinity, nutrients, total dissolved solids, temperature, pesticides and microbiological and algal data. The datasets cover more than 3,000 boreholes throughout the State and 2,300 surface sampling sites concentrated on major rivers in NSW. Data points have been located using the best available topograhic map or GPS techniques.

- Geographic extent name:
- NEW SOUTH WALES - State or Territory - New South Wales
- Geographic extent polygon:
- 141 -37.5, 154 -37.5, 154 -28, 141 -28, 141 -37.5
Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate)
Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Outer bounding rectangle as Latitude/Longitude coordinates based on the WGS84 datum (expressed as both Degrees Minutes Seconds and as decimal Degrees):
- North bounding latitude: 28 00 00.0 S (-28)
- South bounding latitude: 37 30 00.0 S (-37.5)
- East bounding longitude: 154 00 00.0 E (154)
- West bounding longitude: 141 00 00.0 E (141)
Lineage:
Individual datasets have documented data quality metadata.
Positional accuracy:
Most sites are within 50m accuaracy, determined either from topographic maps or Geographic Positioning System instruments.
Attribute accuracy:
Full details describing location, date and other attributes of water samples are recorded. For physical and chemical determinands of water samples, all intsruments are regulalry serviced and calibrated. Records of instrument calibration and servicing are maintained by the department's dataset project manager or laboratory.
Logical consistency:
The department's database has been designed to ensure logical consistency.
Completeness:
All results determined at departmental laboratories are on the database. Results determined in field measurement are progressively being added, but are incomplete.
