Title: NSW Landcare Directory Database
Custodian: Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC)
Jurisdiction: New South Wales
Landcare is a general term used for organised community groups involved in natural resource management. When landcare groups register with the DLWC, they are entered in to the Landcare Directory. The Directory holds information about the group's specific natural resource management activities. The Directory is linked to State and regional maps which show the location and area covered by landcare groups in NSW, and the landcare networks (groups of landcare groups organised into a network).

- Geographic extent name:
- NEW SOUTH WALES - State or Territory - New South Wales
- Geographic extent polygon:
- 141 -37.5, 154 -37.5, 154 -28, 141 -28, 141 -37.5
Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate)
Geographic bounding box:
The bounding box encloses the maximum extents of the dataset. There may be voids or gaps within the bounding box, depending on the defined coverage of the dataset. Outer bounding rectangle as Latitude/Longitude coordinates based on the WGS84 datum (expressed as both Degrees Minutes Seconds and as decimal Degrees):
- North bounding latitude: 28 00 00.0 S (-28)
- South bounding latitude: 37 30 00.0 S (-37.5)
- East bounding longitude: 154 00 00.0 E (154)
- West bounding longitude: 141 00 00.0 E (141)
Lineage:
The spatial dataset was collated from :
a) Inland landcare groups area maps from which centroids were derived
b) Coastal landcare groups were manually georeferenced locations. Each point thus represents primarily a landcare group for database query purposes through CLIO rather than the spatial extent of each group's area of activity.
Positional accuracy:
Not Known
Attribute accuracy:
Attributes attached to points can be considered accurate.
Logical consistency:
All groups on the database have been located and verified by the local landcare support staff in consultation with the landcare community, using 1:25,000 maps of the area.
Completeness:
Landcare groups are not obliged to have their landcare group on the database. It is voluntary. Groups are also not obliged to make their data accessible. Some groups may wish to withhold their locations (but this is doubtful).
